Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Palumbo-Meier.
Laura attended Manhattanville College, Boston College, and Harvard University’s evening program and after graduation worked at Xerox Corporation for 15 years, starting in Sales and advancing to Sales Management. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The company opened itself and galloped ahead! I never intended it to be this successful. I originally intended to operate out of my house as a sole broker.
One challenge I did have was opening “cold”; without ever having worked locally in Real Estate. My prior real estate experience was in NY. I was not a known name, so I had to start knocking on doors and asking for the “easier” business, commercial rentals. The strategy was to pepper the streets with the Black Horse Real Estate signs to create a presence. The added support of some of the top area agents allowed us to gallop into the future. Credit goes to Maria Fraser, Marla Shields, Dee Kerner, Julie Dorey, Phil Bailey, Justine Dillon, Kate Curran, Don Croatti, Carleen Baer, Julia Zhoa, Elizabeth Gormley, Jen Beckett, and our Marketing Manager, Melanie Berger. Without them, I’d still be working out of my house.
Please tell us about Black Horse Real Estate Inc.
Black Horse Real Estate specializes in both Residential and Commercial Real Estate locally. We have two pools of prospects to pull from and can cross-sell as an added advantage.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
A fond memory was buying my first piece of Real Estate, a condo in Brighton, at age 22, with my former College roommate. We bought it on September 5th, 1980 and still celebrate it each year! My College roommate is still my partner on two investment properties and we are life-long friends. She just bought a vacation home three doors down from me on Marco Island!
