Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy DeAlmeida.
Brandy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Brandy DeAlmeida and I am the Owner/Director of Little Hands Learning Center and Little Hands Children’s Center. I have always loved taking care of children for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl, I loved helping my Mother take care of my younger siblings. In high school I took a teacher’s assistant position at a local childcare center in town. After several years of working in the field I decided that this would be my lifelong career. After all, every day I woke up excited to go to work and I looked forward to spending my days teaching young children. While working full time at a local childcare center, I went to college at night and within four years received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and become Director II qualified by the Department of Early Education and Care. My lifelong dream has always been to own a childcare center so in 2015 I decided to open a small childcare center called Little Hands Learning Center out of my home in Danvers. After three years I decided it was time to expand and in 2018 I opened a larger childcare center called Little Hands Children’s Center in Danvers. Nothing is more amazing than to watch a child discover the world around them. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to be a special part in a child’s life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing in life is ever easy. It has taken a village to get me where I am today. My family, friends, and boyfriend have helped me overcome every challenge whether it be making custom coat hooks for a classroom with twenty children, to laying sod in our new playground in the rain, to putting together multiple bookshelves for toys. I am grateful for their willingness to drop everything and lend a helping hand.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I own two childcare center in Danvers. The first is called Little Hands Learning Center and is licensed for 10 children a day. The second is called Little Hands Children’s Center and is licensed for 51 children a day. Both schools specialize in providing high quality childcare and a loving and learning environment. I am proud to serve the surrounding communities with a school that is like no other.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a caring, independent, and conscientious person. I loved to dance and help my Mom around the house. I spent many years in ballet, tap, and jazz classes. Growing up dancing was my only hobby as it required hours of practice. I remember my older sister and I putting socks over our pointe shoes and dancing in the street in front of our house. “Dance like no one is watching” was something that has always stuck with me in life. Everything I do has meaning to me and no matter what the world thinks I will continue to do what I love…teach.
