Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Goodine.
Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began my career on Newbury Street at I-Soci Salon starting off as a receptionist while going to hair school at night. After going to hair school and my strict in salon hair color training, I quickly began building up a clientele specializing in hair color and weddings. I continued my education outside the salon with Wella color classes as well as Vidal Sassoon color technique classes.
After a successful 10 years in the hair biz, I had made the hard decision to take some time off and to spend a few years staying at home with my daughter who was born in 2012. After taking some time off to be a mom, I am more than excited to get back into the field and continue my career now at Pure Hair Design. I have never been so excited more focused then ever.
You can find some of my work on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/jgoodinehair/
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were some struggles. There is a lot of competitiveness in doing hair. I would say to young women who are just starting off doing hair to focus on your work and stay on top of their education. One of my biggest struggles was taking some time off to be a mother and figuring out the work/life balance.
What should we know about JM Hair? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I primarily focus on hair color. I’m known more for specializing in doing a more natural hair color look using foil U usually LOTS of them!) baby lights, and hand painting techniques. I think creating a real natural look is what sets me apart from others. It’s difficult to make hair color look not colored. Often times, grey coverage can be quite challenging.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
Of all the women who have inspired me, I would have to say that my grandmother ranks at the top of the list. She is a kind caring strong woman who has taught me to work hard and never give up no matter what challenges and obstacles you may face in life and in your career.
