Today we’d like to introduce you to Joelle Morse.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Joelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I graduated from Blue Hills Regional Canton, MA with my Cosmetology license in 2005 and went on to Elizabeth Grady School of Esthetics in Medford, MA graduating in 2007 with my Esthetician Licence. I have been working in the Beauty industry for over 11 years and I love what I do. I have settled in a salon in Canton, MA working with my close girlfriends and also freelancing my makeup artistry business. As a single mom of three, I work very hard trying to build my brand. Social media and word of mouth have been the best form of advertisement for me. Bridal Makeup Artistry has been my main focus and it has really been taking off.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for me. I learned very early on that you need to develop a thick skin in this industry. I tell the young girls I mentor that makeup is very subjective, your vision is not always going to align with your clients. You have to be patient, listen to your client and never give up. Never stop learning, never stop practicing. Anyone can put makeup on someone’s face, but making a connection with someone takes something extra. It’s a special skill you learn over time and that’s what is going to have people coming back to your chair over and over again.
What should we know about Joelle Morse Beauty? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I would say bridal makeup is my specialty. I am known for very blended beautiful eye makeup and lashes, lots of lashes. I also would say, I love to bring out the natural beauty in people. Finding the features that make them beautiful and really making them pop. When you can do that for someone and really make them feel beautiful and empowered; there is no better feeling.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I think women are particularly well positioned for anything but especially careers that build up other women. That is exactly what I do, help women to be their absolute best self and have their outside reflect how beautiful and amazing they are on the inside.
