Life and Work with Andrea Falletti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Falletti.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started as a child for me. I was using lipstick to highlight my barbie dolls hair and taking scissors to their head! I would watch endless amounts of videos and taught myself how to braid. I would color my friend’s hair from a cheap box and curl their hair for school dances. I knew I would be a hairdresser so I went straight to beauty school after graduating high school. I trained under some incredibly talented hairstylist and went through extensive training to be where I am today. I truly believe you learn from experience and continuing your education no matter how long you have been in the business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think I underestimated the business a little bit. I went in not realizing how overwhelming and nerve-racking it would be when you first step onto the floor as a stylist. You think “I got this” after all the training you just endured, but nothing can really prepare you for that moment. It took years for me to feel comfortable and build up the confidence I have today. I made mistakes and I learned from them. Your job as a stylist is to make people feel and look great when they leave your chair. That is a lot of pressure and a lot of responsibility, especially as a new stylist! Your client is trusting that you will do a great job. When you see the smile on your clients face, it is one of the most rewarding moments in your career. That is what I love about this job. Don’t get discouraged if you can’t please every client. Take that experience and use that towards your next service. Always strive to be better!

Please tell us about Texture and Gloss.
I specialize in balayage, short bobs, and updos.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I am always looking up tutorials on how to do things. You can never learn enough. I follow a lot of celebrity stylist online and watch the videos they post.
