Meet MaryKate McInerney of Kissed

Today we’d like to introduce you to MaryKate McInerney.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In high school and my early years in college, I worshipped the sun. If I wasn’t laying outside for hours at a time, I was visiting a tanning bed. While in esthetic school, I learned how damaging the sun, and the radiation it emits is for the skin – the body’s largest organ.

I began to acknowledge all the harm I had caused to mine over the years, so sunscreen, which I had only used occasionally at the beach, became a necessity in my daily routine. However, I still wasn’t ready to embrace my Irish complexion, so I became interested in airbrush tanning.

As a result, I established Kissed, an organic airbrush tanning service, as a healthy and safer method for obtaining a glowing appearance. My goal is to educate others on the importance of skincare and to provide an alternative service to sun-bathing that looks just as natural.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
At times, it can be difficult convincing others to invest in their skin. Most people will purchase clothes, accessories, cars, and purses very easily, but what do those items mean if you don’t take care of your body first? You wear your skin, especially your face, every day, so it should receive the investment it deserves through proper skincare products and treatments.

Please tell us about Kissed.
Kissed is an organic airbrush tanning service providing all clients with a customized and natural, kissed-by-the-sun appearance, without compromising the health of their skin.

Our solutions are 100% customizable, cruelty-free (PETA approved), odorless, fast-drying, and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores). They are formulated without fragrance, gluten, mineral oil, parabens or sulfates. Lastly, all colors contain naturally derived aloe vera and antioxidants to help keep skin hydrated and reduce the signs of aging.
