Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlotte Phinney.
Charlotte, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for creating beautiful hair and flawless makeup. I purchased my first salon at age 26 and grew it for 26 years before selling it. For the last three decades, I have had the honor of working with celebrities, world leaders – and brides who want to look and feel special on their wedding day.
I recognized the need for top-notch beauty experts for brides. This motivated me to form Charlotte & Company, a team of experienced, talented traveling makeup artists and hairstylists with hundreds of years of experience between them. Our team is “the best of the best.” They are all passionate about their work and committed to delivering the highest level of service to our brides and their parties. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. For nine consecutive years, my team has received The Knot “Best of Weddings” and we proudly display The Knot “Hall of Fame” award. We are Wedding Wire rated and the Wedding Wire honored us with “The Couples Choice Award” for four consecutive years.
Two years ago, we built a team in Naples, FL which is headed by Robin who formerly was part of the Boston team. Our Naples hair and makeup experts offer services for brides and their parties in the southwest region of Florida.
Has it been a smooth road?
No roads are smooth all the way. I have been fortunate that most of my struggles were growing pains. I would become anxious and want to grow my team fast to accommodate the number of inquiries, but I knew I needed to go slow, be selective and bring on the most talented artists. The team represents me and each artist represents the team.

Outstanding service, fast response to questions and a wedding day procedure that makes a brides day relaxing and perfect are what sets us apart from others. And of course, a team that is professional, passionate, talented and experienced in doing wedding work. Many brides do not realize that doing great hair and makeup that lasts for many hours is very different than simply doing beautiful hair and makeup. That is what sets the wedding pros aside from others.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Set your standards high, realize your value and treat each client as if she were your one and only!
