Meet Mirella Augustine-Howard of Divine Indulgence Day Spa in Roxbury

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mirella Augustine-Howard.

Mirella, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Licensed and Certified Oncology Aesthetician, Aesthetic Instructor, Medical Massage Practitioner and Universal Contour Wrap technician. My passion for serving others extended into the Oncology field, where I am trained to provide integrative skin therapy for those with cancer, health challenges, undergoing treatment, and survivors of cancer, to enhance their quality of life and survivorship.

I have been licensed for 15 years. I have owned Divine Indulgence Day Spa for 14 years.

As an educator in the field, I have taught at Blaine’s School of Esthetics in Waltham, MA, Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics in Woburn, MA. Paul Mitchell The School Dallas and Tint in Irving, TX. In the near future, my goal is to open the doors of my own Spa Institute, which will serve the people of my community, as well as surrounding communities.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything worth having takes a lot of work and dedication. One of my main struggles have been gaining the finances needed to begin this process.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Divine Indulgence Day Spa – what should we know?
I specialize in acne treatment and being able to offer services to guests with cancer undergoing treatment and survivors of cancer.

I am most proud of the clientele that I have developed and their continued support and loyalty that they have shown toward me.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just a skin and massage therapist, I’m also an educator in the field. My genuine love for people, my Blessed hands, and being able to be truly compassionate and educate my clients on what is really going on with their skin and body. I encourage them to be an active participant in their treatment recommendations and at home routine.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
It would be remiss of me not to mention the Source of my being, my Lord and Savior for blessing me with the gift of healing touch and using me as He sees fit as I work on the people He sends my way. I am also thankful for Mamie O’Neal, owner of The Hair Kingdom in Roxbury. She gave me the opportunity to grow and develop my business after graduating from Aesthetics school when no one else would. She rented one of her rooms to me and allowed me to talk to her clients and share with them the services I offer. She has been a part of my life and business to this day. Mamie’s encouragement toward me has been great for me and my business as a whole. My clients are my biggest cheerleaders and they are constantly referring their friends and family to me, and this is a very humbling experience.
