Today we’d like to introduce you to Gulnara Niaz.
Gulnara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been passionate about photography, but have taken a unique path in my approach by focusing first and foremost on developing relationships with my clients so I can best understand their goals and how they want to be seen by others. Thus, my perspective to photography has always been unique in that way: it’s not about me, or how I think my clients should be perceived as an artist, but about their goals.
I have found the key to success with a client happens as much outside the studio as it does inside in front of the camera. I take great pride and effort in spending time with my clients prior to a shoot getting to know then and understand them, an their goals in presenting themselves to others. Even after the session, we work together until we get it right and I’ve met their goals. It doesn’t matter if I’m shooting a person for work, a family for their living room, someone for a dating site, or a home or product for sale: success is dependent first and foremost on understanding my client and what they want, and bringing creativity into that setting.
Today, my home base is in Brookline, MA, and from there I travel all throughout New England and the mid-Atlantic for my clients. I also love exploring with my clients more artistic uses of photography, blending fashion, my talents in makeup artistry, and my passion for clothing design to produce portraits of individuals and families. Clients’ stylized photo shoots are customized to give them a memorable experience and special images that reflect their beauty, personalities, and contours.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Photography is an art, not strictly a technical science. Like many things, sometimes our thoughts and anxieties can get in front of a successful outcome. I always invest the time with my clients to develop a relationship so that I can best understand them and make sure they are comfortable behind the camera and what we are working to achieve. I think these struggles ultimately are a positive part of the creative process, as working and talking through them always makes for the best final product.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gulnara Niaz Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My entire business goes beyond photography to web and graphic design. But it’s based on the same underlying philosophy of clear communications and listening to my client as the overarching theme. Everything starts with getting to know my client and understanding their goals. Success in this business is based on understanding your clients’ needs and wants, and to be there to work with them until their goals are successfully realized.
What do you like and dislike about our City?
Boston is a city that offers everything has everything: four seasons and countless possibilities close by. It’s truly an epicenter of settings and creativity. There’s so many possibilities for amazing scenes and locations and everything’s so close. And the combination of the old buildings with the modern construction add a charm that’s unique in the United States. Most of all, my clients are all kind, smart, and creative too. I love working with them, and contributing in a small in realizing success in their goals.
