Meet Willie Mandrell of The Mandrell Company in Dorchester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Mandrell.

As a lifelong resident of Boston, Willie is very familiar with the city’s neighborhoods and has a deep understanding of the local real estate market. He spent his early years watching his grandparents acquire and manage rental property throughout the city and was able to learn many aspects of the business early on. Now, as a current landlord and real estate investor, he prides himself on staying current with local sales and rental trends. Willie has a real passion for the multifamily industry and specializes in representing buyers and sellers of income producing property.

As the founder and organizer for Boston Wealth Builders, Willie conducts monthly educational seminars for local real estate investors. He strives to share his knowledge and experiences with every client and make every buyer and seller representation a pleasant and rewarding experience. Through Boston Wealth Builder, Willie also attempts to give back to the local neighborhoods through group volunteer work and providing free personal finance courses.

Prior to entering the real estate field, Willie spent several years working in the banking and financial services industries, for firms such as Bank of America and Cantella & Co., Inc. During his corporate years he earned several industry licenses including the series 7, 24, 65, & 53. This valuable experience in the investment world has allows Willie to become an expert in evaluating the risk and rewards of various investment assets, including real estate. Willie earned his Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and is currently working on his Master’s in Business from Suffolk University in Boston.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting and growing a business is never easy. There are so many ups and downs financially and emotionally. Managing cash flow is probably one of the toughest parts of running a business. Making the decisions of when to pay yourself, when to invest back into the company, and went to hang tight for a rainy day, can be challenging. In the real estate business there is also a tendency to count your paycheck before it’s received. You get a couple deals in the pipeline and you start to feel good about yourself. Over the years I’ve matured as an agent, broker, and owner and learned that you don’t earn anything until the transaction is closed and that deals can fall apart very easily.

The Mandrell Company is a residential & commercial real estate brokerage firm that prides itself on its knowledgeable agents, friendly personal service, and up-to-the-minute knowledge of the latest market data. We specialize in multifamily homes ranging from 2- 100 plus units as well as single unit investment real estate. We believe buying and selling investment real estate takes a unique set of skills and there are very few agents that have the investing expertise to really assist their clients. The Mandrell family has been investing and managing real estate in the Boston area since the 1950’s and has a proven track record of success. My Grandparents for getting me into the real estate business. My wife for dealing with the peaks and valleys of my emotions and income over the years and staying supportive.
