Meet Terri Perrotta and Corrine Melvin of Dance Academy in Hyde Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terri Perrotta and Corrine Melvin.

Terri and Corrine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As seniors in high school lifelong friends opened Dance Academy in 1983. Since then we’ve been serving Hyde Park and surrounding area‘s for 35 years some consider us a dance family

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course every business has its ups and downs especially being too young women starting a small business in Boston but we sustained 35 years of success I hard work and positive work ethic

Please tell us about Dance Academy.
We teach all forms of dance starting from two years continuing through adults we are very lucky to have our students stay over the years some from college years and some bringing back their children for second and third generation students. We are most proud of the fact that most of our students grow up at Dance Academy we’re proud to have the #GrowingUpDanceAcademy and also lucky that our students after marriage and children decide to bring the children back to us for the same experience

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we had to start over I think we would probably would not have done almost anything differently we had a formula that we followed and it’s just the same as 35 years ago we pride ourselves in doing things the same then as now
