Meet Stephanie, Scott, and Patrick Dowling of Dowling Landscape Supplies in Wrentham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie, Scott, and Patrick Dowling.

Stephanie, Scott, and Patrick, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Prior to opening Dowling Landscape Supplies, we each had a background working at our father’s excavation company Dowling Corporation. Performing jobs such as installation of water, sewer, site construction, demolition and environmental remediation. After a long discussion of opportunity in the work force we decided to open Dowling Landscape Supplies. It all started out of in a 10’x8′ shed selling bulk landscape materials for contractors, homeowners, and property management companies. Also accepting landscape waste materials for recycling. With no employees to start there was no shortage of hours! We did everything from loading, stacking pallets, deliveries, paperwork etc…

Today we have evolved into a landscape and masonry supply store supplying jobs across various parts of New England. We now have many great employees on the road and in the yard specializing in the industry with a vast knowledge of all our products. We have 2 buildings on site with unbelievable displays to help our customers get more than just a catalogue vision of the products. They can leave our facility feeling confident and comfortable of what products they are picking for their home. Founded by 3 siblings we pride ourselves on service! Every item that leaves our store is carefully watched by our family to ensure quality in every delivery. We enjoy creating peoples outdoor living dreams come true!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Growing Pains has been our biggest hurdle as a business. When we are overly busy in times there has not been enough staff or equipment to produce. In turn, we would work late to ensure the deliveries get to where they need to go. It can be stressful doing all aspects of the business and also being as hands on as we are but in turn has given us repeat customers each and every year.

Please tell us about Dowling Landscape Supplies.
We specialize in sales of mulch, stone, sand, loam, composts, pavers, walls, veneer stone, various natural stones. Along with all the bagged materials, tools and accessories. We are also a recycling facility accepting brush, leaves, stumps, asphalt, concrete, brick and construction debris.

We also opened another company years later called Dowling Equipment Company renting compact CAT equipment such as skidsteers, mini excavators, and attachments. Also offering delivery throughout New England

What we are most proud of is what sets apart from the rest. We are a family company who takes extreme pride and what we do. Our days do not end when the clock turns 5.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We wouldn’t have done anything different! We love what we do and enjoy working with our customers! Truthfully the years have flown by!
