Meet Stephaine Poirier and Rossli DeLorey of Lashbar in Portsmouth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephaine Poirier and Rossli DeLorey .

Stephaine and Rossli, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Rossli and I met almost 3 years ago because she had a terrible first experience with lash extensions. She reached out to me through email asking for a second opinion from another lash stylist. She had recently gotten lash extensions for the first time for her engagement photo shoot but was now experiencing pain from poor application and self-consciousness because it was not at all the look she wanted for such an important event.

At our first appointment we hit it off with our common medical interests (both being Registered Nurses) and high standards for esthetics. Our rapport grew from client to business partner rather quickly. We recognized that we shared a common vision and knew our personality differences would make for the ideal partnership. Our objective in creating Lashbar was to raise the bar in the Esthetic industry. More times than not you hear about the horrible experiences people have had from getting lash extensions but Lashbar is here to change that. We have integrated our medical backgrounds into our training programs and education for not only our staff but clients as well.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the most challenging aspects of building our business was the actual business side! Neither Rossli nor myself have much experience in business so we have had to learn the ropes as we go. Fortunately, we’ve been lucky to have many very generous mentors who have provided us with the guidance we have needed to become successful owners. We continue to learn and grow every day.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lashbar story. Tell us more about the business.
Lashbar is a locally owned and operated business in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, NH. Established in 2014 as a solely operated lash studio, we have grown into a partnership between two registered nurses and over 8 employees. We pride ourselves on being the seacoast’s only specialized boutique for lash extensions.

Lashbar represents our medical expertise integrated into the cosmetic industry, thanks to our medical directors Dr. Zeff and Dr. Wilson, Plastic Surgery. We are proud to be able to offer 24 years of combined esthetician experience and currently increasing our employee’s education with our apprenticeship program offered in house. After at least 1,200 hours in this program this will help to ensure that our Lashbar quality is achieved by each technician. Our medical directors offer us the ability to perform more advanced procedures and expand our skincare services.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would say we have had unbelievable luck with having the right people placed in our lives. I believe you meet every person for a reason. For example, Rossli and I met to create Lashbar. We met our medical directors which has helped us further our medical aesthetic education and dreams of incorporating our RN backgrounds to our business. Our whole entire staff at Lashbar, from receptionist to stylist flows as a team. This atmosphere makes us feel more like a family on the inside, with a polished brand and style we wear with pride.
