Meet Peter Telge of Stark Brewing Company in Manchester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Telge.

Peter, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Been here for 23 years one of the first 2 brewpubs in N.H the first Distillery/Brewpub and only in the state! Beers Built this location from 1992 to 1994 then opened in the fall of 94, over the years have been very well known as one of the best brewpubs in New England. We have won over 30 medals, we have been chosen as Good Samaritan of the year, Good Neighbor award by both city and NHLRA. Won best Chili, wings, burger awards. Great function room, and all kinds of activities from Poetry on Thursday’s to Salsa on Wednesday’s. Acoustical weekends, Karaoke, trivia, great for sports events etc round out this place nicely. Over 16 different beers on tap at all times. Large menu with an entire gluten free menu!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Been many struggles as I have gone from the 2nd brewpub in NH now there are over 80. Multiple restaurants and tap houses have opened all around me. We have fought the distributors in trying to sell our beer in the market. And now we are fighting the state to get our distilled product out on the state liquor stores. It has been quite a long battle with all. But we are in over 200 locations now and doing well.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Stark brewing Company – what should we know?
We are one of the best Brewery’s in not only the state but the region and I dare say the country. At least that is what hundreds have told us thru the years. We have some amazing beers that have won dozens of medals. Our brewers have over 50 years of experience, which makes us one of the most experienced and awarded brewpubs in the area. We are very involved in the community as I serve on the board of New Horizon’s and been feeding the homeless Christmas breakfast for 25 years.
