Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Torday.
Nikki, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
About 3 years ago I had been recovering from some surgery and wanted something to keep me busy. I had been reading some blogs and really liked them. I thought gee I could start writing a blog. So I did. I decided I wanted to write about fashion and lifestyle since I had a passion for it. A little while after I started writing my blog (and it was basically being written for me) a friend asked what I was up to. I told her and she wanted to read it. She liked it so much she said I should share it with others. That is when Bayberry and Main started to take off. I started to ask bigger bloggers how they got started. I got connected with blogger groups and after about year I realized I could do more with my blog. I started really promote it on Instagram and started to make it a real business. So after almost two years I have grown my followers and started doing collaborations.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is ever smooth. There have been some big learning curves. I have stumbled a bit as I have been learning. I have struggled to learn the right way to create a blog and how to get collaboration.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bayberry and Main – what should we know?
Bayberry and Main is a fashion and lifestyle blog with a northern preppy twist. I love to write about fashion, what is in for the season and what trends I like. I love talking about accessories. I also talk about home decor, Showing me redecorating my apartment. I also have some recipes, day trips and local Boston events on my blog and Instagram. I also have a Facebook page, Pinterest, Twitter, and Snapchat. They are all related to my blog and Instagram. My blog is an extension of me. If I don’t like it I don’t talk about it. I also love showing my readers new things they might like and don’t know about.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would say the Boston blogger group and the instaposse group have brought me some great help in growing. Also, I have a core group of blogger friends who have helped me from anything from photos to help me make my blog exsteoidinary. They are Emily from lifestyles of Emily, Nat from wearareyounow and Elizabeth from everythingobsessed.
