Today we’d like to introduce you to Neha Rizal and Salil Jha.
Neha and Salil, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our Passion for traveling and innate desire to explore led to the creation of The Art of Travel.
Over the years our collected memories, crazy stories, funny travel tales, trip reports, photos of beautiful (and at times extreme) places that we have visited and stories of other travelers and their expeditions became such a huge collection that it would be unfair to not share them with the world.
Initially, we were considering to launch a personal travel blog where we would share our US and international travel experiences. But, it soon became clear that our true calling was to create a community of wanderlusters.
We realized (mainly through the overwhelming positive feedback on various social media platforms), that there is a gap in the market for a travel brand that is run by travelers for travelers. A brand that exists to fuel and serve the wanderlust in you.
Our mission is to influence and help one billion people to travel and see the world while having a job, business, or family, and do so on a realistic budget.
The Art of Travel is a brand that represents the heart and soul of travel-lovers, causal vacationers, and holiday-seekers. A brand for those who would love to travel the world or anywhere outside of their comfort zone.
Furthermore, we also wanted to be a part of the travel community and build a platform where people can share their travel stories from around the globe. This is how The Art of Travel (www.artoftravel.tips) was born.
Along with the love for travel and dream to touch as many lives as we can, we also launched The Art of Travel Store (www.artoftravel.store) in mid-2017, where we are creating unique and original products that express a traveler in a true way.
Our t-shirt graphics and messages are designed to bring positivity, inclusion, curiosity, and adventure in people and society in general.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been an amazing journey overall but like any other startup, we had to deal with some obstacles and hindrances along the way.
At the initial phase of setting up our business, there were a lot of things we wanted to accomplish. There were constraints on time and resources. Along with that, building a team from scratch and finding the right team members who were able to see the vision of our company was a bit challenging.
We had to put multiple hats at times to get our business forward. After walking through the fire it helped us tremendously to create a more structured organization.
To fund the business, we downsized our lifestyle and invested all of our personal savings. While many people said we were taking great risks, at our core, we are an entrepreneur.
Please tell us about The Art of Travel.
The Art of Travel Store is made for the travel community. We create products that match evolving travel trends, are affordable, useful, and helps to express positivity and optimism.
The Art of Travel Blog provides a daily dose of travel inspirations. We write about evolving travel trends and aim to entertain and educate our readers. Travel tips, travel hacks, travel stories, destination guides etc.
A few of the topics we cover on our blog are rarely covered anywhere else. One has to often go through several forums and dozens of sites to find useful and actionable information on Travel Visa, Road conditions, Car renting vs. Taxi, Right-Left driving, Medical Tourism, Highpointing, and even Space Tourism to name a few.
We also offer fun and several useful tools to our readers, such as Travel Personality Test, Passport Power, Travel Planner, a collection hundreds of Travel Hacks, Travel Resources, and over 600 FREE Destination Travel Guides.
Our brand motto is: “Go travel and explore everything — the wild, the urban settlements, the deep oceans, the high mountains, the remote corners of the earth; walk religious pilgrimages, visit diverse cultures & customs; explore everything human or nature under the sun.”
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would build a team earlier and delegate tasks and responsibilities as opposed to being a bottleneck for every decision.
