Meet Megan Cahill of my little eye PHOTOGRAPHY in Quincy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Cahill.

Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
my little eye PHOTOGRAPHY found me before I found it. I dabbled here and there with a DSLR camera, worked alongside a handful of professional and hobby photographers. I was always absorbing their every move and asking them a million questions. I learn through seeing and doing so this was a perfect match for me. Before I knew it I was shooting on manual and my photos became more and more clear. This is when my love for photography began to bloom.

A co-worker/ friend approached me in 2011 when her first baby was born (they now have 3 cherubs). She and her husband offered to build me a website in return for taking photos of their baby’s first year. I said YES and decided I would just see what would happen.

Next, my graphic design cousin kindly offered to create a logo and business cards and the rest is history. Seeing little ones smile whether they are snuggling a parent, running down a beach or playing a good old fashion game of peekaboo…. These are the moments that speak to my heart! I am not an athlete but when I take a photo, the lighting is just right and the facial expression is sincere I feel like I have hit a home run. I have learned that sometimes magic happens when you least expect it.

Word of mouth and social media have allowed me to meet and reconnect with so many beautiful people. I feel truly blessed.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall, yes. When I started photographing I did not know if it would actually take off. I am a full time public Montessori teacher and I figured I would see what would happen. I remember I would be SO nervous before every session. My friends and family were always encouraging and telling me I had “an eye” and my style was “organic” as I captured their lives behind my lens. Over the years my confidence has grown. I now know where my strengths (candid moments) are and where I am better off suggesting the job to another photographer (indoor photography).

Please tell us about my little eye photography.
My little eye photography is about a gal who loves to step into peoples lives, learn their life story and document their moments. Whether I work with you one time or every year it is always a joy for me. I believe life moments are what is right in the world. My style is to collaborate with families. I always ask them if they have a vision and to share their ideas. I am often talking and engaging with my clients (no matter what age) to capture their real-life expressions.

At times I feel like one of Santa’s “photo elves”. Summer and fall are my busiest seasons. This is when I am capturing families and by December those photos are hand-picked and printed onto their holiday card and shared with family and friends.

Do I have the top skills and knowledge, absolutely not. Do I want to capture your family and celebrate the beauty that surrounds us? Yes, 100%!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?

Megan. I am your mother’s cousin from Milford. What a joy it was to look at those beautiful pictures. Didn’t Jackie Kennedy do something like that when she met the President? Well, it is definitely a talent to see the moment and capture it. My Katie went to Montessori in FL. That is a talent in itself. To take on the job of educating our children. Stay well, honey.
