Today we’d like to introduce you to Maura Fitzgerald and Jean Serra.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our story began at the agency Maura founded and grew to be a premier brand in strategic technology communications in the U.S., FitzGerald Communications. Through the dedication of Jean as senior vice president and Maura’s leadership, the agency recognized the potential of new technology innovations flooding the market including green and alternative technologies and market evolution in the enterprise software and mobile computing arenas. After successfully building FitzGerald Communications to five offices and nearly 200 PR professionals, Maura sold the agency to Omnicom Corp. in 2002. Then, in 2006, we launched Version 2.0 Communications. This year, we’re proud to be celebrating our tenth anniversary.
Has it been a smooth road?
As in any business, there are ups and downs. In the beginning, we ran into issues primarily as a result of the financial downturn. Clients’ PR budgets were being reduced or cut and revenue investing slowed. It’s a credit to the strength of our team and the quality of our work that we not only weathered the downturn, but we grew.
Our growth has really picked up – 52 percent in the last three years – and we were recently recognized as one of America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies by the Inc. 5000. We do not doubt we’ll face other struggles along the way but with every milestone we’re reminded of why we love doing what we do.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Version 2.0 Communications – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Version 2.0 Communications is a public relations and digital communications agency applying winning creativity, strategy, experience and communications programs on behalf of clients. We work with companies across a broad spectrum of industries and technologies – at all stages of the lifecycle from stealth mode to publicly-traded. Regardless of industry or company size, we have a proven knack for enabling our clients to communicate their stories to the world, honing in on target audiences and utilizing the most impactful media. Our commitment to excellence in planning, execution and results is reinforced by our dogged and continual focus on measurement, analysis, reporting and program optimization.
We know the ins and outs of our clients’ industries, priding ourselves on getting to know them and their business drivers, so we can apply our expertise to each client’s unique challenges. We challenge ourselves daily to build the most creative, provocative and compelling media campaigns to exceed client expectations. We are entrepreneurial. Our clients say we think like business owners. To us, there’s no greater compliment. Our clients are our best references – we’re proud to say that 90 percent of our business comes in through referrals.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Being in the heart of innovation and research is one of our favorite things about Boston. We flourish in the diversity and academic culture of this technology hub, filled with history, character and, of course, the best accents in the world.
Although it’s by no fault of our city’s, we dislike being compared to New York and San Francisco. We love both, and though they’re wonderful cities, Boston has its own unique personality and pride.
