Meet Liora Bram of MyHelp in Central Massachusetts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liora Bram.

Liora, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I actually encouraged my husband, Michael Gladstone, to start the business in 2014. He had worked in technology and sales, had owned and managed restaurants and was doing some consulting to local businesses on an ad hoc basis. Meanwhile, my work, as a partner in a Boston-based PR firm, had me traveling a lot. We thought that setting Michael up with a way to do some more formalized consulting to local businesses would allow him to be flexible for our kids’ schedules while I was on the road. At that time, the business really focused on operations and financials.

Over time, a number of our clients started asking about marketing services. I started helping with marketing programs for our clients for a while, but most of my energy was focused on my full time job. In the summer of 2017, I decided to make the break and focus my efforts on helping Michael to build our family business — MyHelp.

In the 10 months since, we’ve increased our client base and revenues significantly. We’re in a stage of huge growth and are having a blast working together.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is smooth. But overall, Michael and I are really excited about the ways we’ve been able to work together to really take the business to the next level. It’s been really important to recognize where each of us brings the most knowledge and to let the expert drive that part of the business, without making the other partner feel like they don’t have a voice.

The fact that we are married and also raising our kids while trying to figure this all out makes it extremely important to get it right. But we’ve mostly succeeded and it is a great feeling to see how we’re both working together to contribute to our company’s growth.

Another challenge has been building the right team. Our value proposition is that a company of any size can hire us to get really experienced people working on their business. That means that we need to hire the right people and a mistake can be very costly. We’re very lucky in that we have a number of team members we really trust in each discipline, but as we grow, adding to the team means being very deliberate about who we hire.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with MyHelp, Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
MyHelp provides seasoned professionals on-demand. We’ve built a team of experts in three areas: Marketing; Operations; and Finance/Bookkeeping.

By partnering with MyHelp, Inc., business owners can access the talents of highly experience professionals, without having to hire them on as full time employees. Our clients are able to quickly and easily build world-class teams in these important disciplines, simply by engaging with us. We bring a passion for results, extensive experience in our fields, and a commitment to working as part of the team to every client engagement.

One of the things we are most excited about is our business model. We bring in experts – people who have worked as corporate controllers at publicly-traded companies, marketing executives from Fortune 1000 firms, successful business owners – to service businesses who might not have had access to that level of expertise. This is great both for our clients, and for our team, who are able to continue to leverage their expertise in a professional setting, but may want more flexibility in their personal lives. Giving them the opportunity to work on a consulting basis with one or more clients, as opposed to in a full time position is a win-win all around.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are in a period of rapid growth which is very exciting. Over the coming year, we are building out our portfolio of offerings within each discipline – bringing in specialists in particular types of accounting; hiring our own design resources; expanding our stable of writers; and bringing in experts in specific vertical markets that present us with opportunities for growth. We’re balancing staying focused on core competencies with also extending our offerings so we can continue to grow.
