Meet Pauline Kosowan of Life Force Reiki and Aromatherapy in Quincy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pauline Kosowan.

Pauline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I studied Reiki beginning almost 18 years ago when I was in massage school and felt an immediate pull in this direction, later adding aromatherapy and the use of therapeutic essential oils. Both Reiki and aromatherapy work on subtle levels as well as on the physical. I started making my own aromatherapy blends in 2010 under my own label, Little Frog Essentials, taking the first part of that name from the moniker my grandfather gave me when I was a child, little frog. It meant something to me. A friend thought I ought to add in the ‘essentials’ and that’s how my private label aromatherapy blends began. I make these individualized blends for people for anything from grief to anxiety to help with sleep, muscular aches and pains, grounding and general stress relief. I do self-Reiki daily as my personal practice along with meditation and it helps ground me, contributes to my health and helps me to be in a place where I can be present for others when they come in for their Reiki sessions. My practice is about energy work, both the Reiki and the essential oil blends that I create and it’s also about empowering people to see the amazingness in themselves and to give them some new tools to help them navigate life. My space is synthetic fragrance free that is, I ask clients to come without wearing perfumes, colognes or other fragrance. Many people these days, myself included, are sensitive to synthetic fragrance and it is also a way to contribute to being a green practice, along with using recycled paper towels, tissues, chemical free detergents and such. I am very grateful to practice Reiki for others as well as myself and for situations in the world. It has been and continues to be an amazing gift in my life and I hope in the lives of those I am privileged to work with in my practice.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel the Universe has guided me every step of my journey. For a long time, I practiced Reiki and aromatherapy while also working as an admin assistant until sensitivity to fragrance brought me to a crossroads and to a decision to leave so that I could preserve my health. This decision gave me more time to concentrate on Reiki and aromatherapy and was a big leap of Faith for me. I ran a Groupon to bring in clients and have been blessed with lovely people coming in for Reiki, some of whom have decided to study Reiki and meditation with me and who have become regular clients. I love what I do and I always think of myself as blessed and prosperous and abundant and that is what I am creating.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Life Force Reiki and Aromatherapy story. Tell us more about the business.
Life Force Reiki and Aromatherapy is a sole practitioner business offering Reiki, an energy technique that balances the entire person on all levels. It can be very healing for many things on the physical and also the emotional and mental levels, such as anxiety, a busy mind, grief, support during changes in life and much more. It is a huge help with stress, helping one relax into a deep state after having been wound up for a long time and Reiki also helps one cope better with stress. I also make personalized aromatherapy blends that assist with among other things, muscular issues, stress relief, skin issues, grief, anxiety, grounding, etc. I teach Reiki and meditation to a few people at a time and I enjoy teaching and sharing this way. I love the Reiki and I’m grateful for the many therapeutic properties of essential oils. I feel blessed to be doing what I love and to be helping spark people to become their best selves.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In my opinion, I think interest in energy modalities is growing and I would consider both Reiki and aromatherapy in this category. Reiki is being increasingly integrated as a complimentary therapy as well as being sought out on its own for general stress relief or as a personal or spiritual growth tool. The use of therapeutic essential oils is booming as people are looking for some tools they can use to enhance their health; and oils are also being used as a complimentary therapy. I think this trend will continue.

I have been a client of Pauline’s for reiki and aromatherapy as well. Pauline’s kind and compassionate ways led me to study reiki with her so that I may have access this art of healing on my own (although I will still rely on her for personal sessions).
Pauline is a hidden gem in Quincy. I feel so blessed to have had a mutual acquaintance recommend her to me. Funny how the universe puts people in our lives!!!
Everyone should meet her- it will begin a beautiful new friendship.
