Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Dragon-Cook.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In my past life, I was the studio manager for a Boston wedding photographer and faux planner whenever a bride needed help. Prior to that, I had managed and facilitated over 100 parties, fundraisers, and other events in the New England area. In my current life, I am the wedding planner of Keene, NH and I help stressed out brides plan their weddings all over New England.
I’ve been living and breathing weddings ever since I was 3 years old when I got my first Polly Pocket (that just so happened to be the wedding edition). In the real world, I have over 5 years of experience in the wedding industry and still have that Polly Pocket.
I’m an experience-maker, wedding expert, planning powerhouse, problem solver extraordinaire, wife, mother, and so much more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, it has been a pretty smooth journey with only minor hiccups here and there. I genuinely believe that life and the daily struggles are best left to interpretation; your “bad day” is not going to look anything close to someone else’s struggle. For me, however, the biggest hurdle has just been to block out all the noise of my peers in the industry and focus on what I do best – plan kickass parties!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the LDC & Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
LDC & Co. brings a fresh approach to the wedding planning industry by keeping things simple and fun. I offer wedding coordination as well as coaching services for couples that still want help planning their wedding even if I am already booked on their wedding day or live across the country. Coordinating an ideal wedding day schedule and coaching on an ideal engagement budget is kind of my passion. I specialize in working with busy brides by helping them manage their wedding day so that they can be completely stress-free and actually enjoy their special day!
My personality truly is what sets me apart from others in the industry. Past brides have told me time and again that between my humorous nature and joyful demeanor, I was the breath of fresh air they were looking for while planning their wedding. Most couples have this archetype of who and what a wedding planner is: someone with a headset on that is bossing people around similarly to a dictator and takes complete control of the day. Just thinking about the stereotype of what a wedding planner does makes me burst out laughing!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am a MAJOR believer in the universe and karma; what goes around comes around.
Even if you are giving all that you’ve got and you aren’t seeing anything in return, sometimes you need to simply open your eyes, open your heart to accept the good things heading your way, and be patient.
My business wouldn’t be where it is today if I didn’t believe that good things were heading my way. I literally launched my own business not knowing if it would take off or be a complete and epic failure.
