Today we’d like to introduce you to Larisa Shabelskiy.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Larisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as family daycare owner with a license to care for 6 kids. Step by step gaining respect and good reputation in the community I have opened my first center in 2009, following with the second school branch just two years later, 3 years ago another school location was established in Shrewsbury MA and in Worcester.
Our primary goal in Brookline schools was to help families who have just moved to the city from Foreign countries either for school or work, to help adjust and handle possible language barriers for children. Also, we put a great effort to help families who have adapted children with language barriers
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is never an easy way. Having a Masters degree in child development helped but there is always a learning curve and need to adapt for the changes in currents system. Our approach is European with multiple little and not so little changes to accommodate today’s needs of American and new American families.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about School is Cool Childcare – what should we know?
I am very excited to be able to grow my company from just a single employee to school that employs over 50 people and still be able to treat both children and their parents and our staff as one big family. Our school is truly multinational. We care for children representing 12 different counties and our staff is multinational too, which helps to solve day to day situations with an approach suitable for each child individually
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Work ethic. That is what I was taught from early age. And not to give up.
