Meet Kulwinder Kaur of Vibrant Beauty Salon in South End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kulwinder Kaur.

Kulwinder went to Blaine School of Cosmetology. She started her beauty career at MiniLuxe on Newbury Street. Almost immediately after joining she had regular customers. She gained great amount of experience at this very busy place. After about five years she decided to expand her horizons and started seeking her own place to open up similar business with added services like Threading and Henna Tattoos.

In 2015 Kulwinder found the proper spot in the Southend for her own nail salon with these added services. Her followers were just as excited as she was to accommodate them her own ways. Very soon at this new location she gained many more new followers. In very short time the salon has been doing very well.

She is very fond of her collection of natural products with vegan polishes, organic homemade scrubs, and organic coconut oil for the added massage for the hands and feet. She is very aware of the current demands of her clients for natural products that is why she also chose not to include acrylic services for the nails. As acrylic is considered to be unsafe for the technicians as well as some of the clients also. Threading is another reason for cutting down on other products for people with sensitive skin. Eyebrow shaping has become more popular due to this longer lasting and safer method. Kulwinder wants to continuously seek methods to cut down on chemical use and make the beauty business a much safer environment for everybody.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggle is opening any kind of business especially in Boston due to the regulations and location. The major issue we encountered was just the initial process of occupancy of the space other than that it was just a normal process with all the permits and inspections. After the struggle to open up the business things changed to improve over time to much smoother ride.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Vibrant Beauty Salon – what should we know?
The name of the business Vibrant Beauty Salon is often confused to include hair services which we don’t do. Since my passion has been to cut down on chemical use for beauty services I did not want to include hair services instead added services like Threading, Facials, and Henna Tattoos along with Nails and Waxing. Henna Tattoos are becoming popular over the permanent tattoos because you are not stuck with it permanently and have to go through expensive procedures to get rid of the ink. I am happy that I have been able to successfully advertise these services to the locals. The staff I am working with is just as talented to offer these services.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Attitude plays a big role in a technician to accommodate a client. If you can keep a happy face it will also show on your client as a reflection. Communication is very important as I always explain to my staff. If you have the good communication skills you can always gain new clients.
