Meet Krystal Couture of Pure Balance Holistic Healing in Portsmouth and Newburyport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Couture.

Krystal, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a young girl, I always felt very connected to spirt and the energy of the earth. I would spend hours dancing in fields and playing in the sea. When I was about 14, my cousin had a mud football accident which left him paralyzed from the neck down. I watched him go from being an extreme athlete to laying in a hospital bed being told his life would completely change. When he went to rehab, someone told him that the way he accessed his life might change, but he was exactly the same person; if he wanted to achieve it, there would be a way. He was and remains a true inspiration to me and to many others. His experience was pivotal in my decision to become a PT, however, in PT school, while I loved the science and the clients, something was missing. In my first job, I was introduced to craniosacral therapy and Traditional Oriental Medicine. I started practicing these forms of bodywork on friends during my lunch break at work and I knew I was onto something amazing. I began focusing on holistic healing and opened my practice in 2007. It has certainly been an evolutionary process, facilitating healing and being an entrepreneur!

Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to learning, healing my own self and sharing the gift of healing with others. I have found that most valuable lesson is staying true to who I am and offering my healing unconditionally with clients.

Today, the practice is an extension of me and I am living in the sweet spot of really loving what I do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is entrepreneurship ever a completely smooth journey? HAHA! Of course, there have been bumps along the way. It seems for me the greatest contrast arose when I was choosing a path that was not really in alignment with my true self and my mission for healing. I think the greatest of these was taking contracts for services and contracting with insurance to provide care for clients. While there may be a need for these services in our society, they didn’t allow me to fully share my healing gifts due to contractual limitations, expectations, requirements and other guidelines. I realized at one point, that not only was I not satisfied, but I was not able to treat the whole client and therefore was not fully sharing the healing gifts bestowed upon me. Perhaps, I needed the contrast, at the time, but releasing it, once I knew it no longer served me offered amazing freedom. Meeting the clients exactly where they are on any given day, treating them based upon their needs and desires, supporting them with a variety of techniques without restriction is vital to the deep healing that people seek. And, as it turns out, it was crucial in my journey into alignment with my soul purpose.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Pure Balance Holistic Healing – what should we know?
Pure Balance is dedicated to holistic healing through various forms of bodywork and energy medicine. I specialize in dry needling, craniosacral therapy, somato-emotional release, meridian balancing, endocrine attunement and osteopathic manipulation.

Sessions often also include essential oils, crystals, and sound healing, in coordination with our resident clinical herbalist, we provide support with homeopathic remedies, flower essences and custom herbal blends. We open our arms to all clients, wherever they are in their journey and provide the highest quality of healing, consciously including them in each step of the process. Clients seek us out because we offer treatment of the physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual parts of our being.

Sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the client and offer the opportunity to gracefully transition to feeling better and better in every way.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Often, the only barrier between where we are and what we desire is us. Allowing the authentic self to shine and setting the ego aside offers an opportunity for growth like no other. In running a business, I have found a direct correlation between my success and my own personal development through the work that I do. I believe in the work I offer completely and share sessions with other practitioners weekly. As the quality of my own physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual health expands, so too, does my business and the experience that each of my clients have during sessions. I believe that raising our own vibrational energy impacts our business and everyone around us. It is a really amazing feeling to be in a place of alignment and positive energy, sharing and receiving with others.
