Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Briansky.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As far back as I can remember I was always interested in helping and supporting people. Strangers would come up to be and tell me their life story as if we were longtime friends and I enjoyed being able to provide a safe space for people to process their feelings. It was no surprise that I went on to get a Bachelors in Psychology from Clark University. After college, I took some time off and traveled, had more jobs than most people have in a lifetime and did a lot of self-exploration.
I became interested in complementary health care and explored many different treatment modalities. As I became seasoned in Reiki and Reflexology, my clients would continually want to verbally process their feelings throughout their session. It became clear to me that the body and mind were connected, but my education was not.
In 2006, I received my Master’s degree from Simmons College School of Social Work and began a new career. I worked with diverse populations and began to understand more of the subtleties that motivate people. During this time, I started to piece together the energetic/body work with the mental/emotional work I was doing as a social worker.
With passion and enthusiasm for my work, I continued to gain knowledge as both as counselor and within the complementary health care field by getting my Shamballa Master Teacher certification, Holy Fire Reiki Master Teacher certification, Craniosacral I training and yoga teacher certification.
After over a decade of experience as both a Social Worker and a complementary health care professional, I have been able to thread the health care and counseling together to create a holistic approach to working with clients. Jill’s Holistic Center has been created to work with the whole person; mind, body and spirit.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have encountered several obstacles, mostly surrounding insurance. It has been a learning experience understanding how to bill different insurances appropriately to ensure payment for counseling services. On the other hand, energy and body work are not covered under insurance so there has been a need for me to provide education and marketing to the community in order to promote the benefits of my treatment modalities.
Jill’s Holistic Center – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I provide a variety of services to assist people in transforming mind, body and spirit. I provide individual counseling specializing in anxiety, depression, transitions and grief. Energetically I provide Reiki, Shamballa, and IET (Integrated Energy Therapy) sessions. And I work with the body utilizing Reflexology and Craniosacral Therapy.
Clients can come in for one service or receive a combination of services in one session. The diversity that I bring to my practice allows me to provide a variety of different perspectives and integrate different techniques for people. My primary objective is to support my clients in seeing, acknowledging and transforming their greatest challenges into their greatest gifts.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is watching a client have a breakthrough. Being able to witness a person’s transformation gives me enormous fulfillment and joy. I believe we are all in this world together and when one succeeds in overcoming a challenge, we all succeed.
