Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff and Robyn White.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started in 2008 when we got our Pug, Lulu. We were sad every morning when we had to leave her home alone and go to work at jobs that we didn’t really love. We recognized a career opportunity here that could make us really happy, so a few months later we decided to start our own dog walking company. This allowed us to spend more time with Lulu and also create the kind of service we were looking for and couldn’t find – dependable service delivered with enthusiasm and professionalism.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our biggest struggle has been learning how to cope with losing a client whether it be because they move outside of our service area or they pass over the rainbow bridge. We become very attached to the dogs we walk and develop strong bonds with them. Some we walk twice a day, five days a week and some we started walking as puppies as soon as they were brought home. So, when they are no longer a part of our daily routine, it can be quite emotionally difficult for us.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Me You and Lu – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in Monday through Friday daily dog walking while our clients are at work. Our philosophy is simple – we provide the kind of service we would want for our Pug, Lulu and we treat the dogs we walk the way we would want someone to treat Lulu. We want the dogs to have fun on their walks and we want their owners to know that both their dogs and homes are safe. We are known for being reliable, trustworthy, caring and professional. We leave daily notes for our clients, contact them if we’re ever worried about something and celebrate birthdays/gotcha days. We’re proud that some of our clients have been with us from the very beginning, that our clients recommend us to their friends and that many of our clients who move out of Brookline ask if we’ll do walks in their new town.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have big plans for the future! Last month we opened two Etsy shops! Robyn has always had a passion for art in addition to her keen business acumen. Jeff is a creative type that discovered he was an artist at 45 years old. Me You and Lu expanded into selling pet related art – personalized and custom pet name paintings, crate signs, magnets and bookmarks. Additionally, we are branching out and forming another business called Golden Swirl Art and Design, yet again combining our symbiotic business and creative skills. Our dog walking business has been a tremendous blessing and has made us confident and excited about our new ventures!
