Meet Herb Entwistle of Cityscapes International Realty in Back Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Herb Entwistle.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Herb. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My fortee, is working with international investors looking for Boston Real Estate. For whatever reason, both sides really connect both ways. I have a very strong underground network of contacts that help locate Off market opportunities, both development opportunities as well as large-scale investment opportunities.

Herb is a seasoned real estate professional with almost two decades of experience in the Real Estate Industry, having pursued a broad range of real estate endeavors from real estate development, financing, consulting, and sales. He brings with him a strong financial background as well as a keen negotiating ability. Herb has owned and operated a variety of businesses including a mortgage company, from which he parlays his skills to the unique and variable world of real estate. He is well versed in all aspects of both residential and commercial real estate, able to consult you in all your real estate endeavors.

At an early age, Herb learned that honesty, dedication, hard work and customer service are the building blocks of any successful business. He comes from a family of entrepreneurs that take pride in their work.

One of Herb’s favorite things to do in his downtime is travel. He has traveled to over 45 countries and has previously run an import business with South America and Europe and Asia. This is probably one of the reason he has such a large International Client base He enjoys working with people from various nationalities.

Herb is a native of New England and a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Finance and Management. He also has certifications from Clark University. An avid sports fan and a 20-year Red Sox season ticket holder as well as Boston Celtics,

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the big struggles is locating properties for buyers. Its a historically low inventory. I have clients from China that want to buy apartment buildings. They just aren’t out there. So you need to be really creative in ways of finding opportunities

Cityscapes International Realty – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a small boutique real estate firm that specializes in off0market. What sets me apart is I don’t have a huge amount of clients so I can give most of my client’s white glove service. They can literally call me any hour of any day and I’ll most likely answer. I’ve become a pro on Wechat the Chinese communication app with 100’s of millions of users in China but very few from Americans. China is 12 hours difference so be prepared for calls and texting at all hours.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I was involved with Build Boston. It teaches inner city kids Entrepreneurship. I recently mentored 3 kids starting in 9th grade all the way through graduation. The schools they attend graduation rate is less than 50%. We won the Business Plan writing Competition for the city of Boston when they were juniors and they all have gone on to College. Evandro is actually attending Bates on 4-year scholarship. These kids were so rewarding to work with and so deserving. It was a big commitment and most mentors only last a year or 2. I stayed for the full 4 years. ij taking a breather but I’ll do it again.
