Geraldine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off on a idea to wanting to own a shop to wholesale to wanting to create my own private line. My ideal goal is to create an around the way full service beauty bar that provides make up services. It took a lot of research trail and error. As I learn, I see what products work and what doesn’t and people tell me what their interest are or their level of skills when it comes to utilizing cosmetic products. I invested in my business with the money I save, taxes and school refund. I continue to push through to market myself to get noticed from my own city by being involved as a vendor for events to build clientele besides using social media outlets like Instagram or Facebook.
Right now, my brand is growing and I realized how much that I want to focus on branding how my products are displayed, packaging and quality. I have realized, I can’t rush the process of wanting a store front and learned people will walk pass my table without a care and there will be days I wont make a penny. Where I am is that I am content with my growth, almost 1k followers with only being in business for seven months and knowing that I have not given up on myself nor brand.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a bumpy road when you are wearing so many hats as an entrepreneurs. Keeping up with marketing while trying to make sure there is enough money to book events or seeing if the event is even worth it. To me, every opportunity is an opportunity, whether I make money or not, I meet amazing people to connect with and gain more resources. When starting my business in August of 2017, I had to balance my two kids in school and in business while working part-time. I realized how overwhelming and energy has to go in branding and marketing myself. No matter how far you come in the business, you’ll overcome and learn from many obstacles.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Glamour Up story. Tell us more about the business.
Bringing together a community of beautiful people one face at a time at an affordable cost. While ensuring that we provide excellent quality cosmetic products and services that leaves our clientele feeling excited about ordering through our company for their essential beauty needs. With an edgy collection of bold, colorful, cruelty-free cosmetics, keeping your lips, eyes and face vibrant.
What I am most proud of is that I have not given up on myself, I continue to push and believe that it will all pay off not just for me but to pave a future for my children. The make up industry is booming and will always be a necessity. I appreciate my business for giving me opportunity to travel and take me to places I’ve never imagined I’d go.
What sets us apart is my end goal. Not only have my own cosmetics but providing an atmosphere for local talented make up artist to create magic. My prices are not just only affordable but great quality pigmentation is the key and all my products delivers its true colors. A great tool for inspiring artist and consumers new to the beauty industry, looking to try at an affordable budget.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has played a role in people believing in my brand and wanting to invest, in terms of sponsoring events or make up classes. Simple opportunities that I didn’t think I would reach so quickly. I haven’t had any bad-luck, I have been very fortunate to make sale for every vending event I have booked. It’s a great thing being able to meet my potential future customer and have them try my products and watch my brand grow with me.
