Meet Elise Sanchez, Fashion Blogger in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elise Sanchez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I created my blog a little over a year ago because people would always ask where I got my clothes from. When I would tell them my clothes were from TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Goodwill, etc. they were shocked. I wanted to share to people that fashion can be easy ad it does not need to be super expensive. I got to where I am today by simply putting myself out there. To me, the hardest part about making a blog is getting over the fear of sharing your personal life. I have worked my way up by networking and I also study Marketing at Emerson College. Another huge part of where I got today is my amazing support system. My parents have believed in me and even helped me with business advice. I have also never stopped believing in myself. There have been times when I have wanted to stop but, I am not going to stop until I have reached my goal. My blog started with a small idea and a big dream. It has become more than I could have ever imagined and I am so excited to see what the future holds.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have been many struggles, especially towards the beginning. In the beginning, I would get made fun of a lot by my peers for starting a blog. At the time it was very challenging, but it has made me stronger and more determined. I have faced rejection from brand affiliate programs and jobs but every obstacle I have overcome has been a learning experience. Also, it has been hard to balance my blog with school and extracurriculars. Sometimes, I forget I am 19 and I need to slow down but I just can’t help it because I love blogging so much!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Elise C. Sanchez Blog story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a fashion blogger and I specialize in fashion for reasonable prices and styling. I am known for my style, personality and entrepreneurial nature. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far in the time span of a year and for also attending NYFW. What sets me apart from others is that I am relatable. There are so many people in the media who wear designer brands that no one can actually afford but I like to show people that you can be stylish without wearing thousands of dollars worth of clothes. I want to encourage people to be themselves and to not be afraid to stand out.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I plan to continue to expand my brand and start my own business that encapsulates all of my brand values and provides styling services. I also hope that I will be living in New York soon.
