Meet Ebony Owens and Deanne Rubinoff of Boston Concierge Storage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Owens and Deanne Rubinoff.

Boston Concierge Storage was founded after recognizing a need for a new and innovative storage model in the city of Boston. Cofounders Deanne and Ebony assisted each other on Deanne’s residential move between the neighborhoods of Beacon Hill and Back Bay in Boston, MA. Deanne purchased her own garment racks only to be turned down on moving day to transport. Arriving at the new apartment — without any closets, storage space, or the ability to bring in armoires — Deanne thought there has got to be a thousand other people in the urban area that want a garment rack option as well as the usual box storage.

Mr. Owens, who has storage management experience, knew there was nothing available in the full-service storage market that offered garment racks. After three weeks of sharing ideas with Deanne they both helped to make Boston Concierge Storage a reality.

With the success of BCS, Ebony and Deanne wanted a bigger challenge, so they decided to expand to New York and create New York Concierge Storage — a new full-service storage model that is affordable for all.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The storage industry in the city of Boston is competitive. When we began marketing we had a rough start. We were just doing the ordinary approach that most storage companies use rather than using every modern marketing tool available.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
What set BCS apart from our competitors is that we manage our customer’s belongings with RFID tags. Also, our pick up and drop off customer option allows our customers to request a particular item from storage when needed. Lastly, we provide garment racks for wardrobe management.

What were you like growing up?
Ebony – I grew up in New Bedford, Ma. In which is a smaller city south of Boston. Just a kid from humble begins who played basketball until the sun went down.

One outta 3 children looking to always prove myself. Always looking for a good laugh and a broad interest many topics. A young man of faith who faced many bumps in the road stood optimistic about the future.
