Meet Deborah DeFrancesco of Bitchless Bride

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah DeFrancesco.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Deborah DeFrancesco, founder of Bitchless Bride. I am a wedding planner turned accidental blogger and writer (over sharer, pseudo therapist, best friend, and everyone in between…) who just needed a place to clear the air. A place to hopefully inspire brides-to-be to quit being so bitchy, and listen to the professionals trying to help them. I encourage and educate brides around the world to drop the entitlement, move beyond the bitch and learn how to quite possibly even enjoy planning their wedding.

Having worked at a property level (hotels) for a number of years combined with my experience working independently, I can honestly say that there isn’t much I haven’t witnessed or experienced and conquered. So, I started writing about these experiences, and next thing I knew, some pretty amazing opportunities began to present themselves. What started out as place to vent, share, and bitch, very quickly morphed into a passion project. And that passion project very quickly morphed into much more than I ever could have imagined.

I’ve had the opportunity to chat with Elizabeth Vargas on 20/20, write over 50 articles for Huffington Post, contribute to Martha Stewart Weddings, discuss budgets and elopement on camera for Yahoo! Finance and contribute as an industry expert in Boston Magazine.

Currently, I write for my blog, plan weddings and do quite a bit of consulting with brides all over the country.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No way! The road has and continues to have many bumps. In the beginning, it was stressful because I was writing about existing clients under a pseudonym; Deborah DeFrancesco was not attached to Bitchless Bride. But, when I came out from under the disguise, attached my name to the business, the road became less bumpy, although still difficult. Keeping up with the ever-changing industry, and new audience is a constant challenge.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bitchless Bride – what should we know?
I specialize in being honest with my clients. When I write or when I plan weddings, I don’t mince words, and I am completely upfront. I have become known for that, and I am most proud of turning a cheeky hobby into a business!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
HA! Being blunt, honest and funny!
