Meet Jim Wieler of Coastal MI-BOX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jim Wieler.

Jim, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was looking for business opportunities in the New Hampshire seacoast region when my brother-in-law Scott Warren mentioned a business associate of his was looking for someone to open up a portable storage business in the seacoast region of New Hampshire and Maine. While I was investigating the business it became obvious that I could us the help of a couple of young men that were looking for new opportunities. Enter Alex and Scott, my daughter’s boyfriend and my son. A plan soon developed; I would be the mentor and they would be the brains and brawn.

We started officially on Valentine’s Day 2017, and have had great success. Customer service is our focus. We have a great on-line presence, have been hitting our sales targets, and plan on doubling our business next year.

That’s it: Two guys, Two dogs, and a Truck

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been pretty smooth so far. We have some day to day hiccups, like getting the truck stuck in the mud and convincing AAA to tow us out that is an Alex story! At times it feels like we are drinking from a fire hose, but in the end we have a pretty well thought out business plan and we are executing to that plan.

Coastal MI-BOX – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We provide portable storage for our customers. We are known, and pride ourselves on customer service. Moving and storing belongings can be stressful, we exist to lower the stress of moving and storage.

We deliver our weather tight and secure storage boxes to the customers’ site. Our customers load the boxes, and then call us to move them, or bring them to our storage facility. Our boxes are about 8 feet tall, 8 feet wide and come in three lengths of 8, 16, 20 feet. We provide easy storage solutions for people trying to de-clutter or stage their homes, we simplify the moving and storage process. We also work directly with renovation contractors and restoration companies.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Happy and pleased customers and an engaged, and motivated team.

Our criteria is getting positive feedback from our customers and written recommendations. While expanding we are looking for people with a “can do” attitude and an unwavering drive to meet commitments.
