Meet Carol Gregoire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Gregoire.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I started my business, Cherry Blossom Photography, in the summer of 2015, but ever since I was little, I have always been fascinated by photography. As soon as I bought my very first camera, I knew that I wanted to pursue portrait photography as a career. In 2015, I was focused mainly on just senior and creative portraits, but what started as just an obsession soon grew into a full-fledged business, booking weddings, families, events, seniors, and more. Even to this day it still amazes me how much positive feedback and support I have received! Cherry Blossom Photography has now been in business for over three years, and in just that short time I have been blessed to make so many wonderful connections than I would’ve ever imagined, and gotten to know so many people through my work.

Please tell us about your art.
My goal is always to create photographs that are both beautiful and artistic, but also stay true to the person who I am photographing. It never seems right when, in the pursuit of creating a “magazine-worthy” photo, photographers forget to capture the true heart of a person, what makes them the person that they are. Every time I do a shoot, whether it’s a family, a couple, or an individual, I’m seeking to capture their personalities and bring out the truest version of themselves. And it’s essential to be on the same page as your client! There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing someone tell you that you truly captured exactly the kind of pictures that they wanted, and to see their faces light up when they see these beautiful, genuine photos of themselves. Photography is a unique form of art because it requires a bond between artist and subject, and that, in my opinion, is what makes it such special and rewarding work.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
My advice would be to focus on WHY you do what you do. Do you create work for others’ praise? Do you do it simply because you want to make money? Or do you do it because it’s something that means a lot to you, something that you’re gifted at? There’s a world of difference between artists that create for material gain, versus artists that create because it’s something that matters to them. And others can tell too! We are all blessed with unique abilities and talents, so why hide them?

So don’t be half-hearted about your work, or fall into the rut of always doing the same thing. Try new things. Get outside your comfort zone! And most of all, pursue what you truly feel you’re gifted in, not what makes the most money or earns the most praise.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can view my work both on Instagram and Facebook! My Instagram username is @cherryblossom.photography, and you can find my Facebook page at @cherryblossomphotography015. It would mean so much to me if you liked or followed my pages, and be sure to leave a comment telling me how you found my work! I always love connecting with other people through social media.

I am also currently booking weddings for both 2018 and 2019, so if you’re on the look for a photographer, or have a friend that may be interested, I would love to get in touch with you! I handle all bookings through my email: cherrybphotography.bookings@gmail.com.
