Meet Carly Yarbrow of Carly Michelle Photography in Seaport District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Yarbrow.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started when I was sitting at a desk job at Colliers Meredith & Grew. Something in me was not happy. I had debated going to grad school since I have a BA in Psychology but I wasn’t quite sure I was ready to commit to school again. It was on a random day I decided I wanted to pick up a camera and try something I had never done. From there, Carly Michelle Photography was born. I eventually moved on to a second job working with special needs children. Doing this allowed my schedule to get out at 2 pm and work on my business. I booked my first wedding off of craigslist and the rest is history. I had one wedding in my first year of business and 17 in the second. I have now been a full-time photographer for 5 years and photograph 30 weddings a year!

Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly, it’s been somewhat of a smooth road. I think when you are meant to do something it comes naturally to you and my business just sort of fell into place. I think the hardest part was having people believe in me and believing I could make a full-time career out of a new found passion.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Carly Michelle Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
Carly Michelle Photography is a wedding photography company based in Boston but more than willing to travel worldwide for destination weddings. Some weddings have been photographed in Hawaii, Wyoming and South Carolina. I’m known for my bright, airy and clean images. Images that will be relevant now and in the next 40+ years. Timeless and classic, you just can’t go wrong! I am most proud of the customer service in my company. That I cater to my clients and make them feel like friends. It’s a huge part of business people forget about.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I hope to add more associates to photograph weddings for me using my brand. I have 3 currently working for me and it’s been such a success!
