Meet Brittanny Taylor, Patsy Culp, and Olivia Rodrigues of The Branding Edit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittanny Taylor, Patsy Culp and Olivia Rodrigues.

Brittanny, Patsy, and Olivia, please share your story with us.
A series of events and working opportunities sort of brought us together. It all started with The Lady Project; Brittanny and Patsy met at a time when Patsy was looking to launch her blog And Celebrate, and coincidentally it was around that time when Brittanny met with Olivia to talk photoshoots and creative ideas. Brittanny, as the photographer for The Lady Project, was pulling a team together to shoot their editorial for their second member highlighted Holiday Gift Guide and asked Olivia to style the shoot, and Patsy to be one of the models.

The chemistry was so great that we decided to come together again and collaborate on the third The Lady Project Gift Guide. From that point on, our group text became a place where we shared everything from business insights and advice to personal and growth development, as we each dealt with our own set of successes and challenges. The friendship took a new shape as we would refer each other’s services to clients and professional acquaintances. Our individual work and expertise (although very different) are very complementary and naturally enhanced the other.

Then, a couple of years into our budding friendship, Brittanny and Patsy had the brilliant idea to create an Instagram workshop called The Insta Edit and held events in Providence for anyone who was interested in getting more intentional with the platform while improving their photography skills. These face-to-face opportunities allowed us to hone in on some of the challenges freelancers and business owners faced, and it became clear that there was a need for a branding+styling+photography service to exist.

And rather than create one single package, we decided (after many conversations) that The Branding Edit needed to be its own entity, therefore allowing us to break down the services and offer different packages that speak to the needs of various groups. Since launching last year, we’ve worked and collaborated with dozens of phenomenal creatives and business owners in Rhode Island and Massachusetts; and our community keeps expanding!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Patsy: It has not been perfect, but it has been real, a heck of a lot of fun and fulfilling on so many levels. To expand upon our story, captured above, our individual work and expertise (although very different) are very complimentary. Our chemistry as a creative agency is awesome because we started as friends first. We bring our truest selves to the room and our audience appreciates that. There is a comfort and synergy we have with each other that enhances the client experience.

The challenge lies in striking the balance between our work as a collective, and the work we take on within our individual businesses. We love what we’re creating with The Branding Edit equally as much as what we’re creating within our individual businesses, and that has, as you can imagine, been difficult to manage at times. But, the beauty is that we support one another in our individual endeavors just as we would if it were a The Branding Edit initiative.

What we have is something really special and I think that even on the hardest, most challenging, overwhelming days, we find gratitude in knowing we get to do this together!

The Branding Edit – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Olivia: We specialize in helping passionate entrepreneurs refine their brand, expand their presence online and off, and connect on a deeper level with their audience. We help our clients get clear on where they want to go, precisely who they want to reach, and provide them with a customized strategy that amplifies who they are and resonates deeply with their ideal clientele. And we’re there to cheer them on every step of the way!

Many small business entrepreneurs and companies like to come to us because they need a sounding board; they are looking for expertise and guidance in terms of their social media and branding approach. They are also looking for an agency to take that strategic vision and execute it well through strong visuals and effective storytelling.

Our photography and styling services are added bonuses that provide them with the full branding experience, and because our work is very collaborative and hands-on, there is a clear sense of direction and cohesiveness across the board. Making sure that their brand story is presented in the most authentic way both online and offline is an essential component of our work at The Branding Edit.

Brittanny, Patsy, and I have worked together on various projects before launching The Branding Edit and each one of us has had similar and different experiences from running our own individual businesses. We understand the entrepreneurial “hustle” and what it means to be wearing multiple hats, and the responsibilities to be everything (the bookkeeper, the scheduler, the marketing guru, the networker, the PR agent, the website developer — the list of titles goes on and on).

So what sets us apart is our ability to relate to some of these challenges that companies and small business owners encounter; our work culture and our values; our 3-in-1 consulting package; our professional experiences and individual expertise; our personalities and most of all —our story!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Patsy: Success, to us, lies at the intersection of having fun and delivering value. The questions we ask ourselves before each client strategy session, photoshoot, or workshop are: 1) How can we make this fun? and 2) Is this approach of the highest value to our audience?

We describe ourselves as a visual storytelling studio, but really, we’re in the business of building confidence. When we receive feedback like, “I can’t wait to move forward with this new boost of confidence!”, we know we have done our job. Confidence changes lives.

With newfound confidence, our clients generate more sales, deeper connections with their audience… which leads to client retention and raving fans, creating a word-of-mouth machine for their brand.
