Meet Michelle Han Director of Blessing Channels Nail Academy in Woburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Han Director.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Early 2012, Sun, the founder of Blessing Channels Nail Academy attended a board meeting regarding the approval process from the State Government. Here, the State Board suggested the change of the academy name, declaring that the name, Blessing Channels, emanated a religious and non-profit organization sentiment. However, the name remains unchanged as her vision and mission were embedded within the name. Sun wished to those being educated in becoming a Nail Technician, to become channels of blessings to their work place, family, and community.

I first met Sun as her accountant, and essentially took responsibility of tax related material along with the payroll. We worked together during the establishment of the academy; therefore, I grew to acquire her thinking and vision of Blessing Channels. I experienced a totally new field where I realized its immense potential derived from a great vision. I constantly learned from it and realized that I had indirectly experienced something new. Late 2014, when Sun consulted her business in selling the store, I helped her with the financial process. I soon realized my attraction and interest within this field of work and ultimately decided to purchase the academy in the year of 2015.

Differing from the paperwork and documents I was so used to, this decision offered me an incredibly fresh experience. Through my involvement with a variety of students, I became more immersed in this work. The instructor, Stepheny was another charming factor. Her professional instruction resulted in every student being offered an enjoyable and thoughtful learning opportunity. Student responses from Yelp reviews were not surprising, as I knew of her efforts towards creating an enjoyable atmosphere and her desire for their success.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our service is comprised of students who are required to fulfill a total of 100 hours. The test at the end of this process is the final step in getting a license. Our organization being reliant on incoming new students, results in times when lack of registration causes us to delay or cancel our scheduled classes.

Unpredictable registration often prompts worry from managing staff members. Although this does push us to continue working hard in order to maintain a good learning atmosphere, this will always be a challenge for us to overcome.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Blessing Channels Nail Academy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
In Massachusetts, nail technician licenses can be obtained through an exam. To qualify for the exam, you must acquire 100 hours of both practical skills and test prep at an approved school. Besides learning about the nail care, this academy also offers hands on working experience to ensure a smooth transition into real working conditions. Within the manual practice, students not only learn basic manicuring, but also about pedicures, Gel, Acrylic, and Nail Art. We also try to immerse students into real life problems or situations they might experience as a nail technician later on.

Our experienced instructor Stepheny, always tries to communicate the concrete situations of a nail technician. Also, we provide a place where alumni can gather to exchange information and try to inform everyone about open opportunities regarding new jobs. Moreover, we encourage the growth of graduated alumni, as they are welcomed back to continue working on their skills to ensure consistent improvement and growth.

A variety of ages and backgrounds gather at our academy. There were couples wanting to open their own nail salon, students in pursuit of their passion, part-timers wishing to work while their kids are at school, or even those who simply want to enjoy the art of manicure.

Not only are there a wide range of ages, but also diversity of ethnic background. Due to this, students are easily exposed to different cultures. Despite these differences, their common goal is the pursuit of their individual career. All these students are our pride and to help these students, we offer a reasonable tuition for students to earn their license with a substantial education.

We hope that through our nail academy, students who become nail technicians will feel self-confidence in their work and pride towards making others feel more beautiful. Most importantly, we hope students will be treated with economical fairness and respect within the working environment.

Through a respectful and caring atmosphere we hope that students will thoroughly enjoy and pride their work in the future. To this, we continue to work hard in creating the best academy that we can.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least about our city?
Boston weather is the most attractive feature to me. Like my birthplace Korea, within Boston I can witness all four seasons.

The season fall is not only an aesthetically pleasing season where I can enjoy the view of both the mountains and the sea, but also boasts the lovely views of campuses filled with energetic students and the stories of people from all over the world. I am personally inspired by cities holding historical records as they hold many different stories.

Not much, but I would have to say that the one way I encounter while driving is a difficulty I am facing.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
When I visited Korea last year, I found an MBA course offered in a college, solely focused on the beauty industry. In response to the increasing demands of beauty and fashion in Korea, I could see a prominent display of contemporary trends and consistently developing skills. As a nail academy, we thrive to absorb and develop these trends; our ultimate goal is to communicate them to students. By educating our students with these vital trends, we hope to produce professionals, who will show confidence and pride in their growing abilities.
