Meet Bimala Lima of Bimala Organic Salon in Newton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bimala Lima.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bimala. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I live in Hopkinton Ma I have a big passion for gardening. I started gardening a few years ago. I have transformed wooded land the beautiful garden. I am not sure how you are going to connect my organic hair salon to gardening. But if you are writing about me, I do have a very interesting story to tell you. I came from Nepal in end of 1986 to the US. I was born in village and raise in Kathmandu Nepal. My parents used to grow food to survive. When I was a little girl I always dream of having a home and growing flowers everywhere. That dream took a long time, me and my husband bought a house in April 2013. And moved into this house in May.

The biggest reason why I moved here in Hopkinton because of my illness, I have multiple Chemical sensitivity. I lived in an apartment building in Cambridge Ma. I lived in Cambridge about 26 years, I love Cambridge but after I got MCS I was craving for nature. Every time we go camping or outside I felt alive. This is why we bought this house, the house is small needs work but a lot of lands. I love it. I started digging and clearing right away. This year I finished a lot of digging. It doesn’t mean I am finished, but My garden finally came together how I vision. I still have a long way to go. I put backyard waterfall this year everyone loves it. I would love to share that picture with you. I have few garden parties. You see I am just talking about garden too much. My garden is mostly all organic. Not sure some plants I planted it doesn’t have a sticker saying non gmo or organic. My veggies are all organic. I don’t use any chemical in my garden. I grow a lot of marigolds. It’s different tall one just like in Nepal. It’s funny that I found out my self to this year I could control my rash in hand I had for about 5 years with marigolds. I am so proud of myself what I have accomplished in few years.

My hair stylist job. it’s good I am a very good stylist this is why I have my clients follow me everywhere I go. This past 10 years I have moved to so many locations some of them are tired. I have lost so many good customers. But I am still trying to make it work with my MCS. I can’t even go to regular hair salon and nail salon. I don’t paint my nails. It’s a lot of things I have to be careful with. I have started my hair stylist job in fancy salon in Belmont. I have worked there more than 6 years. And then, I owned a big busy salon in Brookline ma for almost 7 years. I had to sell it I had a financial crisis since then I have been struggling. Then after a year or so I got this illness. Not sure where to end this story. I gave you some information.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
