Meet Andrea Crawford of Drea’s Special Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Crawford.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Setting up parties at family events was always a fun hobby for me. I love to decorate and put things together. While helping my best friend plan my God daughter’s party, she had asked me to put together a candy table for her with the theme being Rapunzel and I loved helping her with the theme. That was in 2015 and that’s when I decided that I would start my own party planning business part-time. I work full time and my schedule can be very hectic, so I decided part time would be best because not only is it just a fun hobby for me, but I want to take my time on the event that I am working on and making sure that I give it my all. Working part-time allows me to take in a few clientele at a time focusing on the client’s wants, needs and desires and paying close attention to details. I am always searching for new ideas so I can continue to learn and grow and give my clients the best parties and events that I can at an affordable rate.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think the toughest thing for me as a party planner is having people cancel events on you or not keeping appointments. That is something that I had to work through and it is the reason I now charge a cancellation fee, which I didn’t before. Clients have to understand that you are putting time and effort into this event and even if it’s the first appointment it’s still time that could have been spent on someone else. Other than that, yes things have been very easy for me because I love what I do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Drea’s Special Events – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Drea’s Special events plan events for all occasions. Weddings, cookouts, birthdays, graduations, baptisms any event, I am here for you. I can do just day of coordination for those that like to DIY and just need help day off, I can just set up, or clean up. I can plan all of the event or some of the event. Clients can email me to get a copy of the different packages that I offer. I would say that I am most proud of my continued growth in the business and I am especially proud when clients love the outcome of their events and refer my business to their friends and family. I think the one thing that sets me apart from others is the affordable rate that I am able to charge. Party planning can be very expensive. I usually work off of the clients budget adding in some flat rates and take it from there. I am not here to rob anybody. I just want to help them with their event because it’s what I love to do and just see that smile that lets me know they are happy with the end result and I helped them bring their ideas to life.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now I am focusing on getting ready to go back to school to get my MBA. I want to focus on improving my business and hopefully starting other businesses. One is a child care center. I was in the childcare business for 10 years so childcare will always have a place in my heart no matter what venture I take on. I also want to focus on finishing my poetry book.
