Meet Amy Parrett of Laschi Hairstylists and Day Spa in North Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Parrett.

Amy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My mother Lea Laschi started this business over 50 years ago. We’re pretty sure that Lea started her life with a blow dryer and a pair of shears in her hand. As long as she can remember, she’s had a huge passion for creating and designing hair styles for women and men. As a result, she started her schooling for hair and her passion continued to grow. Her father opened Laschi Hairstylists for Lea and her brother. Her two sisters followed suit as well. Together they built a loyal clientele some who still visit the salon today. Her sisters and brother retired from the salon world, but not Lea. She kept building and building the Laschi Empire to what it is today. We now have 13 styling stations and a 2nd floor day spa. Lea is semi-retired from the salon now. My three sisters and I now oversee the day to day operations of the salon as well with working behind the chair as hair stylists. Our staff team is incredible and we are all one big family.

Has it been a smooth road?
Anyone in the salon industry or any business always hits some challenges along the way. Growing a business is never easy. One of the biggest struggles is losing staff members for personal or professional reasons. It is always hard to find exceptional people to work for you, then when you have to look for a replacement for them it is very tough. Salons and spas, have a unique energy and vibe. When it gets ruffled a bit, sometimes it takes time to recover, but we always do! Perseverance and persistence are a must in this industry.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Laschi Hairstylists & Day Spa is just a great place. We are a salon and spa for the ENTIRE family. Our clients range from the age of 2-92. The staff we have is amazing and know how to treat a guest with the utmost professionalism & enough personal touch. I am a stylist, along with my 3 sisters and the rest of the fantastic staff of stylists, spa technicians and desk staff that work in our salon. My sisters and I all work behind the chair. We love to work on all types of hair. All types of hair coloring and precision cutting are what we specialize in. We are known for offering superior products and services for our clients. We have a few stylists that just are amazing at formal hair styling and ombre/balayage type color services. Proud- an amazing word. I am proud that my mom has built this business to what it is today, which was definitely not an easy road. She has built it for us to carry on for her. We are doing it with so much pride I think it shows in our everyday presence at the salon & spa.

What sets us apart is our entire staff. The atmosphere and energy that we all create together is such a pleasantry for the clients. Our clients are the best out there and they love us right back. Kind of like the bar Cheers…you want to be where everyone knows you name. At Laschi’s we strive to make everyone feel welcome, and happy!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
In the salon industry it is hard to start out in general being a new business. Reading MA is overloaded with salons and day spas. As well as the surrounding towns. If you have the drive and ambition to make it, you can make it anywhere!

I have been a client of Laschi’s for over 40 years now. I think I have had Lea, her sisters and Lea’s children do my hair at one time or another. Everyone of them is devoted to their profession and are the best for miles around. I highly recommend
this salon to anyone wanting a friendly, highly professional,
salon. They are the “BEST” in my opinion.

Hi there, my name is Kath Brigg- this is just a `stab in the dark `enquiry and I hope you do not mind me asking but I am looking for some distant relatives of mine. My late Mum`s name was Mary Naylor and her Father was George Naylor; his sister ( who was also called Mary) married a man with the surname Parrott; the tale is that they moved to Boston to work in Forge Valley back in the 20`s/30`s – they changed their surname to `Parrett`; could you be one of my lost relatives? I live in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
