Meet Alper Tuzcu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alper Tuzcu.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alper. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started by writing lyrics when I was 11 and then studied classical guitar when I was 12. I then crossed over the electric guitar and started exploring other styles like Blues, Rock, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and Jazz. Over the years, I kept on writing my own songs, performing and producing.

In 2012, I was accepted to Berklee College of Music with scholarship, where I studied music production and composition. Ever since I released 1 solo album, 1 solo EP and also another EP with my duo project ‘Ark’. I was fortunate enough to perform in festivals and venues all over the world and currently working on my next solo album to be released this fall.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
You have to be valiant to state your own truth, but it is what it is and you have to be what you have to be. For me, that’s worth every struggle possible. My music is my own truth and I wouldn’t trade it for a thing in the world.

Please tell us about Alper Tuzcu.
I compose and write songs, play guitar and record/produce my records. I wear many hats and get to do what I envision as an artist while collaborating with other artists from different cultures. I also like to mentor and educate other artists where I like to share the techniques of my craft, as well sharing as the joy of staying true to yourself and enjoying complete creative freedom.

What’s your favorite memory from childhood?
Big dinner tables. As a native of I’m from Turkey, and especially in the southern Mediterranean coasts, we have big family dinners outside in the garden, just like you might see in the Fellini or Almodovar movies. Those are my favorite memories and they will always be.
