Life and Work with Kristina Zakirova

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Zakirova.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In Eastern Europe, girls spend crazy money and crazy hours to take care of themselves. It is not common to be outside of your apartment without makeup. So, to reduce time, most of the girls have eyelash extensions, lips and eyebrows ”made” (microblading, permanent brown shadowing, permanent eyelining, lip injections and etc.), so they could wake up beautiful and reduce the time for preparing themselves. That played a huge role in my life and that is why I decided to go and learn it. Besides that, I have a master degree in economics and yet making girls beautiful gives me more satisfaction than well-payed office work. 🙂 It is more on the stage of a hobby as of right now, but I am pretty sure it can lead me to success in time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t hard to get the aesthetics license, the only problem is that it is time-consuming. But I think it’s all worth it as any other education. There is a lot of self-observations and self-learning which could be motivating as well. If you know what you want to do with your career – go for it with no doubt.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As I said, I am an aesthetician, I am specializing in Facials, Skincare, eyelash tinting and eyebrow tinting and of course, in eyelash extensions. My passion is eyelash extension and eyebrow tinting. It does change the self-presenting and totally accentuates the eyes. Hard to describe what I feel when my model opens her eyes with new eyelash set and I can see her beautiful satisfied smile), I am also crazy about zero waste and minimalism and I truly believe that having eyelash extensions saves our animals from testing all these mascara products, shadows, and eyeliners that we can omit in use. Also, the less cosmetics girls use – the less non-recyclable bottles appear in the trash bins. So, it does not only make a girl beautiful – it does save the planet at some point.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I don’t really see any barriers to female leadership other than the one in our heads, and the non-self confidence could be a barrier as well.
