Life and Work with JoAnna Sacco

Today we’d like to introduce you to JoAnna Sacco.

Thanks for sharing your story with us JoAnna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey started when I was in my early 20’s and I was diagnosed with endometriosis. My doctor told me that I would not be able to have kids unless I got put into a chemically induced menopause and then I would need to have surgery every six months to clear out the lesions caused by this illness.

I simply did not accept this and started researching alternative ways to heal my body.

I came across lots of amazing information about the anti-inflammatory diet and how what we put on and in our bodies directly impacts our health and auto-immune disease. I started to change my lifestyle and my symptoms, which were very severe, started to subside. I was allowing my body to do exactly what it was meant to do by giving it the tools it needed to heal. I now have four beautiful children which I had NO trouble conceiving and to this day I still don’t have any endometriosis symptoms.

Along with my journey to motherhood, I discovered doTERRA oils and immediately knew that this was another tool that I needed to have in my tool belt! I knew that these oils were so pure, potent, and effective and I wanted my children to grow up using these natural solutions instead of other less than safe alternatives. I didn’t want them to have to have the same health challenges that I had growing up.

About a year after I joined doTERRA, I knew that I had to share this precious gift with everyone and anyone! Over the last four years, I have dedicated my life to educating others about how to live a wellness lifestyle, reduce their toxic load, and use natural solutions as their first line of defense. Even though I didn’t have a clue about what it takes to start my own business, I decided to go for it and figure it out along the way. My business has thrived and I now have over 4,600 people in my organization in 48 states and seven countries. We are just getting started!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth but it’s always been rewarding. I have grown so much as a person since I had to do lots of personal development to get to the level in my company that I am in. One of the biggest obstacles has been overcoming the stigma of being part of a Multi-Level-Marketing Company. There is still so much misconception about what it is and isn’t and sometimes my biggest struggle is reassuring people that I do in fact know what I am talking about in terms of health and wellness. Coming from a professional setting working in Psychiatric Research for Dartmouth Medical School, this was a big shift for me for sure. However, I knew that I had to get over my own trepidation because I simply could not share all of the amazing things that oils have done for me, my family and all the people on my team.

Because many people still do not understand essentials oils and network marketing, I had to really get creative on how I was going to make the business side work and I realized that I had a huge opportunity to share my story via social media. I laugh often about the fact that I literally grew my business using my smartphone while breastfeeding my babies. They were the reason why I was doing this and I wasn’t going to use the excuse that I was a young mom stop me from achieving a better life for us. I wanted a life of time and financial freedom to spend time with them, travel, show them all the beauty that this world has to offer. I wasn’t going to get that by working a 9-5 for someone else and I decided that instead of building someone else’s dream, I was going to build my own!

My advice for other women is to be true to the calling in your heart despite the naysayers, the skeptics, and the haters. If you have a passion for what you are doing that is so strong that it keeps you up at night, then you know that is what you are meant to do. Don’t settle for the “norm” just to please others or to fit into a mold. You only get one shot at this life, so dream big and go for it!

What else should we know about you and your work?
In a nutshell, I teach others how to live a wellness lifestyle using natural solutions so they fully experience optimal health. I teach them about what oils to use and how to support various body systems. I help them feel their best.

I educate people via Facebook groups, live videos, in person make-and-takes and classes about how to use essential oils and other doTERRA products to keep their bodies and minds in a state of health.

Another facet of my job is to train other Wellness Advocates on how to achieve their goals. 90% of what holds us back in life is our mindset, so I mentor others in how to discover what is blocking them to unlock their true potential and get maximum results. I think what truly what sets me apart is my ability to build other successful women leaders. Having my degree in psychology and having studied the law of attraction, mindset, and positive psychology has been a huge edge in training others in this business. On my team, I have multiple leaders and even more emerging leaders. I absolutely love this aspect of my career. Helping someone to have an AHA moment about their health or their future and what they want is a beautiful thing to witness.

Who have you been inspired by?
There are so many inspiring women in my life that I could write an entire book about them all. I learn from them often and am grateful that they have paved the way for other entrepreneurs to believe in themselves and to just go for it. Today, I want to share about one particular woman who was instrumental in helping me get started on my journey in doTERRA. Her name is Romi Clark and she is a Blue Diamond in my upline. This woman has a heart of gold and I was immediately drawn to her energy, spirit, grace, and grit. What drew me to her was that in many ways she was like me; an average everyday person who decided not to settle for the norm. She struggled with some of the same things that I did in life and she didn’t let that stop her. She persevered in the face of adversity and went after her dream full steam and succeeded in a BIG way. She leads in a gentle, compassionate way and she has the ability to allow others to see that they too can accomplish great things. She’s humble, not pretentious and has a heart of service. She also rides a Harley! I introduced myself to her years ago and told her that I wanted her to teach me how to achieve what she has achieved and she obliged, even though she didn’t have to! I don’t know if I would be where I am today if I didn’t have her supporting and mentoring me along the way.

Her leadership style and our friendship has inspired me and taught me to be the same kind of leader to my team. The team culture and the bond we have is unmatched. We are a tribe of like-minded, high-vibe, supportive, positive, passionate people whose mission is to change the world one drop (or essential oil) at a time! I believe that it all started with her and that is why my team has grown so big and strong.
