Conversations with the Inspiring Sara M. Woods Kender

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara M. Woods Kender.

Sara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a New Hampshire native and nature lover. My journey began as a young child spending hours in the NH forests. My love for the earth and all She provides propelled me to study biology, chemistry, and Environmental Studies in college and then later pursuing a certification in Herbalism. After traveling and living out west for about a decade, my journey brought me back home where I started a family. My love for plants and people culminated in the shop I now own and operate in Meredith, New Hampshire. Plant medicine is a way to connect people to the earth again as well as empowering them with their health. I provide people with time-honored, proven, traditional ways to maintain balance in their lives and bodies using a combination of plant medicine, energetic healing, and nutritional and lifestyle support. The shop contains products made by me including medicinal tea blends as well as an array of Chinese and Japanese teas, all natural skin care items, syrups, salves, CBD oil and so much more. I teach an Herbal Apprenticeship each year as well as other classes on herbalism.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The only advice I can give is to stand in your power. Realize what you need to be accountable for and do your work. Follow your heart and listen to that inner voice. Women are caregivers and I find that many tip the balance between what they do for themselves and what they do for others. Women lose themselves a lot. It’s ok to do for yourself and stand in your power while also caring for those you love. Be strong, fierce, and kind. Find a balance between taking care of others and yourself. It’s not selfish to do so, it’s crucial.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Sacred Tree Herbals story. Tell us more about it.
I specialize in people. Listening to their stories and connecting with them. Many feel like they are not heard…. really heard by either their doctors or their families. Listening makes all the difference. In regards to my practice, I specialize in Lyme Dis-ease, heart and circulatory issues, autoimmunity, respiratory dis-ease, and preventative approaches to keeping the body in balance. I use food, some supplements, and of course, the plants and mushrooms. Mushrooms are a big part of what I forage for in the wild and integrate those into many people’s blends for well-being. I also provide Reiki healing to help people release stuck trauma so healing can begin at the deepest of levels.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Do what you love, so you can love what you do. Stand in your power. We do not encourage girls to do this enough.
