Check out Nicholas Johnson’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Johnson.

Nicholas, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started taking photos when I was heading to Spain to hike the Camino in 2016 for a class trip. During my trip to Spain I took hundreds of photos using my first camera, a Nikon d5300. During the trip I had no other form of technology, so I was really able to focus and dedicate my time to capturing my journey. Ever since then I have been unable to put my camera down and have gone one to practice numerous styles of photography. Some of my favorite types of photos to take include, portraits, models, and concerts.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I take my camera with my everywhere I go. I like to take photos of what I’m doing or who I’m with to convey a sense of real life to my work. I don’t like my photography to feel staged or over edited. I think that authenticity is something we are lacking on social media so I really try to stress that. Ideally, I want people to be able to relate to what I’m posting in some way that’s useful or impactful to them. I often feel like the theme of my photography correlates with my mood to an extent.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
I think that photography is like any other art form. If you want to learn or get involved I think the best say is to get out and shoot. There is no better way to learn that networking and socializing with other photographers. People love to teach and help out other people in their craft and I think it’s always beneficial to spend time with people who inspire you.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I post my work primarily on Instagram. I also post my photography on my Facebook page and my twitter. I also have a website that is in my Instagram bio where people are able to book me and see some of my favorite photos and profiles of other individuals I worked with.
