Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Sher.
Jennifer, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I always loved art, drawing especially, but never thought that I was creative and/or artistic. When I discovered Mixed Media art in 09/2015, everything changed for me. I am a mother of three beautiful girls and I work full time as an accountant (using the left brain all the time). So, when I started to put time aside for me and my art. It made realize that if I take care of my soul and my mind I could be a better wife and mom. And I came to find out I’m actually pretty good at it. 🙂 I love that while I am doing something that I really find inspiring and fulfilling am also encouraging my girls. I use art as a conduit to release stress, be mindful and spend some time with my girls.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I like to create a painting using Mixed Media techniques. But I also found paper clay and fell in love. Now, every time when I create art dolls, my intention is to fill them with love and serenity so that’s the energy they will transmit to the place they end up. We are energy beings and that’s why I believe my handmade mixed media paper clay dolls will reach many places and many people. They will transpire a beautiful healing and uplifting vibration.
The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
There are a lot of free classes on YouTube and on the internet that could be found if an artist wants to expand their knowledge in other areas. Since I do this part-time, I have to really budget my expenses when buying supplies and/or other classes from artists.
