Art & Life with Lindaluz Carrillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindaluz Carrillo.

Lindaluz, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My name is Lindaluz Carrillo. I am first-generation Peruvian born in New York raised in the South End of Hartford. I am an Urban Pop Artist and Graphic Designer. My work is influenced by Peruvian textile patterns, graffiti elements, and urban culture to create a story about her customs, traditions, and values. A lot of my designs reflects topics like self-love, growth, and resilience. I have done creative arts projects within my community and youth members through the city of Hartford.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
A lot of my work reflects topics like self-love, growth, and resilience.

My graphic design work is mostly illustration base. Once I’ve developed a concept I create multiple versions of that idea and then transfer it over to digital designs.

My mix media paintings have a different process. I mix different mediums such as spray paint and acrylic she blends colors, shapes, and patterns to give dimension and depth.

I started off as an Urban Artist and pursued Graphic Design as a way to train my eye for design and composition.

When I create work, I hope that people are able to relate to them and seem part of themselves within the creations.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Work smarter not Harder.

It’s also important to be patient with yourself. Creating is time-consuming and it can take a lot out of you.

One important thing is to be consistent with your creative flow. Always make time to create or sketch something throughout your day.
